May 6, 2011 was Grandparents' and Special Friends' Day at Upland.
As they arrived, grandparents received name tags and copies of their grandchildren's schedules for the day.
The Registration tables were manned by lots of volunteers, both Upland staff members ...
Parent volunteers also helped with the delicious breakfast buffet.
The grandparents could have some breakfast and get oriented, while enjoying the Upland Art Show that was set up in the Barn.
We were lucky to have a beautiful day for the event.
Grandparents visited classrooms and shared time with all of the students, from Pre-K on up.
Kindergarteners did some math,
showed off their computer skills,
and pointed out the recently hatched baby chicks in their room.
The first graders read their journals to their visitors.
Second graders had a wide variety of work to share with grandparents.
The third graders spent time with their grandparents on the computers in the library.
Fourth grade had a number of displays up on the walls that they explained.
In addition to their Speaking Artists Museum, the 5th graders demonstrated what they've been doing in science class.
Upper School students also enjoyed having their grandparents come to class with them.
Grandparents' Day is a wonderful tradition at Upland.
