Miss Ralston introduces each 9th grader before his or her speech. She tells the audience interesting facts about the speakers such as how long they've attended Upland, and what their favorite color is.
The Ninth graders project their visual aids from the computer onto a big screen.
Ali C. was our first speaker this year. She told us what she'd learned from the year she spent living in France.
Meredith M. spoke about a bad injury she had while horseback riding.
One of the lessons she had for the audience was the importance of perseverance. She still enjoys riding today, even though some people might have quit after an accident like hers.
John H. used a lot of humor in his speech about his Saturday morning job at a feed store.
He told about a time when he couldn't remember a customer's order. He has learned that it's better to ask than guess!
Alex M. spoke about what he has learned from spending winters in Florida.
Harry W. spoke about what he's learned by traveling.
At the end of each speech, the Ninth Graders take questions from the audience. The younger students are always eager to interact with the speakers.
