We had only 1/2 columns on the porch but we are building a two story entry.....
so we had a mason take the back 1/2 column and put it on top of the front one to create one fluid column.
This will be the new entryway...they had it halfway framed in.
Just another angle.
and another.....we now have no stairs going from downstairs to upstairs.
This doorway cut into a 16 in. thick wall was not easy to create.
Yet another angle of the entryway...it's been the big project happening.
The basement “family” room ...these stairs are now gone too....used to go up to the kitchen.
We needed that extra room upstairs for the new kitchen.
The new doorway...from the inside looking out.
Nate's been working on redoing the plumbing...what a mess.
The master bedroom..still windowless.
From the master bedroom, this little room we're looking at will be our bathroom.
You walk through the bathroom to this space which will be our walk-in closet.
This will be Addy's tiny room.
This is from our closet looking through the wall into Addy's room.
This is the beginning of a small powder room.
This is where we keep all the goods. :)
The mason also redid this chimney, which is a huge improvement.
We got the windows in... I mean they arrived.
Another view of the column from the porch.
This will be the interior staircase from up/down stairs.
Looking down where the stairs will be...hopefully within 2 weeks.
This will be our front door and we'll have a window above it to catch that view.
Another look at the new doorway.
We still see the beauty of it beyond the trash and mess.
This is the old chimney.....pretty rough.
This is a different day and we have a window partially in.
I love seeing any kind of forward progress, even if it is just this window.
The front entry and the completed column on the left.
See how we chipped out the white between the stones?
I think it looks a thousand times better.
This will be the inside entryway...we'll leave this exposed stone as a wall.
We are only chipping the white from the entryway right away...
and the fireplace....I love it so much more without the white squiggly/viney like look.
The front of the kitchen.
back of the kitchen....notice where the stairs were (far left) is now closed up.
Of course the wall between what was the kitchen and dining room is down.
The opening to the family room is large, making it feel more open.
Standing in the family room looking at the rest of the house...powder room is closest, door to right leads to that 2 story entry.
