Brian and Ian before the race
Ian, Gayle, and Brian before the race
Ian, early in the race, it is still a little dark in the woods
One of a few water crossings
Despite a well-marked course, Ian and I managed to take a wrong turn to make the 8 mile trail run a 9 mile one
On the trail
Some downhill, white ribbon tells us we are going the right way :-)
Ian crossing the stream
Ian standing in the stream
Brian catching up to us
Brian passing us on his first loop
Up the hill and in the distance
Gayle looking great during her first loop
Ian maneuvering the downhill to go up again
The dam about a mile from the finish of our 8 (actually 9) mile run
Still more to go
A spectator was nice enough to take my camera and snap a couple of pictures of Ian and me
Yay! We finished. What a fun time!
Brian finishing his 2nd loop (22 miles, actually 23 because he took the same wrong turn that Ian and I took to add an extra mile)
Brian crossing the stream
Brian crunching through the leaves
Taking advantage of some downhill
Entering the Schroll's area, you can't see the wording on the sign, but it says "Most Difficult" at the bottom. This is the part that only the 33-milers got to run.
Schroll's - up and down and up and down (ouch after so many miles)
Brian ready to give a high five, almost done!
Brian on the dam, looking damn strong!
Brian kicks it to the finish
Gayle approaching the finish
Gayle also finishes strong -- and no falling on this trail!
Gayle and Brian, proud 33-mile run finishers. It was the longest distance run for both of them. Congrats!
Brian takes advantage of very tasty post-race food
Brian and Kelly at the finish line...all smiles after a long day!
