License plate spotted on White Station Road (on the walk to the racquet club).
Giant bike in front of the racquet club.
To the right of the entrance to the club, there are a half dozen spots or so reserved for past champions and someone named "Hartman."
Jurgen Melzer, Denis Istomin, and their hitting partners, practicing on Stadium Court before the start of the day session.
How many ballkids does it take to attach the WTA logo to the net?
The chair seats are welded together. Something to keep in mind if you have a jacket with you. <sigh>
The seats are indicated with stickers from nussli (event management co).
Not too many people in the stands for Arvidsson vs. Parmentier.

Spectators waiting to get into Court 1 (Levine v. Kubot)
Grandstand scoreboard. It's a simpler version of the Stadium board -- doesn't track challenges, and no speed gun to measure serves.
Spectators watching Levine v. Kubot from top of Grandstand bleachers. (Things were getting feisty over there -- Kubot had gotten a time violation right before I went into Grandstand.)
Lucie Hradecka. Ugliest kit of the tournament.
Hradecka's coach. He would periodically make notes in his Moleskine notebook. Behind him is another Czech player. They would both call out encouragement to Lucie in Czech from time to time.
After Tsurenko took the lead in the second set, the coach went over for a chat.
Racquet club bar. The TVs showed the action on all three courts.
This was the setup on all the screens throughout the club. A great improvement from 2010, especially for court-hoppers like me. ;-)
Jurgen Melzer. Not bad for a guy who broke his right big toe in his hotel room six days earlier.
On Stadium Court, Shelby County officers provide security for the players. The players walk through the same hallway and entrance as all the spectators -- there's a narrow path cordoned off when a match is about to begin or end.
Some folks weren't so into the match...
After Melzer d. Istomin, I went back to the Court 1/Grandstand area. This is the view from the entrance (the guys in the top row are watching Woehr/Watson v. Dushevina/Govortsova).
Linesman, Court 1
Ballkid supervisor showing them how to hang the ATP sponsor cards
Coin toss for Petzschner v. Benneteau. Unpleasant match -- both players berating linespeople and umpire, and displaying little of the flair they're both capable of.
Eventually fled to Reynolds v. Stepanek. This is Reynolds. He actually showed some nice touch at the net, but just wasn't in Stepanek's league.
Grandstand: Mark Knowles and Kevin Anderson
Denis Kudla and Ryan Harrison (vs. Ehrlich/Ram). Harrison fun to watch (especially since he wasn't bratty at all this match).
Colin Fleming on Court 1 (kept an eye on this match from the top of Grandstand while watching Harrison/Kudla v. Ehrlich/Ram. It's about 9 pm at this point)
Andy Ram and Jonathan Ehrlich. A couple of guys in the crowd periodically shouted encouragement in Hebrew.
