29 June 2012: Jennifer with friends Jittanart Pichaiya and Naishanan Maneerat.
We attended a Pha Yao tourism promotion meeting.
Pha Yao lake, the largest lake in northern Thailand.
Created in 1941, the lake flooded a valley.
We visit a partially submerged temple.
To "make merit," ...
... we release fish and turtles.
To minimize pollution, motorized boats are not permitted.
There is a fish hatchery to stock the lake.
Back on land, Jennifer and friends earnestly discuss the juice options ...
... while I take some snapshots.
Snacks and a briefing at the Pha Yao science museum.
Jennifer can handle the math, but seems fuzzy on the Thai :-)
Meanwhile, Brauer & Einstein do some serious thinking.
A workshop meeting starts with lunch.
While Jennifer contributes to the meeting, I take more pictures.
30 June: An evening stroll in Chiang Rai.
1 July: On the way to Mae Sai on the Thai/Burmese border, our scooter needs a tire repair.
This kitten (and her lovely "parents") helped us look for a repair place.
We fill up the scooter and ...
... all is well.
A spell of rain threatens.
We wait out some of the rain in a shelter along the road.
Back in Chiang Rai, we visit the night market.
Will she eat the crickets?
2 July 2012: Excusion on the Mae Kok with friends Phai, Zoey, Nae, and Nut (back left).
We steer toward our first stop.
Jennifer prepares for feeding time ...
Down the hatch the worms go.
A tiny waterfall inside the cafe.
Outside, the scenary is beautiful.
Tourists are trotted by.
The backsides show the water line.
Here you see, why.
At the elephant camp.
We go on to the next place ...
... a hotspring area.
Jennifer breaks out into a sweat.
But it's perfect to boil eggs.
Jennifer examines the goods ...
The kid computes the bill :-)
And on we go again ...
On to the final stop ...
... a National Park.
There is a phone booth.
J&J (Jennifer & Juice).
Plenty of varied foods.
Getting comfortable for the long ride back to Chiang Rai.
River scenes ...
It was a nice day trip.
