In November 2015 18 of us went on a kayaking/cultural adventure to Bhutan. Karl, Amy, Linda and I opted to extend our travels to go all the way around the world with the major stop being Bhutan. It was a fabulous trip. The Bhutanese people really are the happiest in the world. Plus, their country is absolutely beautiful (and they have some great rivers).

March 2011 trip to Silverton Mountain. Since little has changed since my last trips, I only have a few mountain shots. I did take scenery shots in Silverton and Ouray plus the Ice Climbing Park in Ouray. I did four Heli Drops, got in some steep, and lots of powder. As in years past, it was blue bird both days. I seem to have good luck for blue skies when I visit Silverton.

One Lap of America - The Final Link
This is the missing link in my 'One Lap of America'. It has been a journey in my home built airplane around the perimeter of the Lower 48. Over thanksgiving Linda and I circumnavigated the state of Texas to complete my journey. I am sure I have seen sights that few others have seen. It has been a fantastic adventure.

2010 Boy's trip to Silverton Mountain. We spent two days at Silverton this year and included a helicopter drop each day. Thursday was a classic 'Blue Bird' day on the mountain. They had over 5 feet of snow the week before so we did not have unlimited powder but got nice stashes on each run. The helicopter drops were fantastic. Thursday we did a great couloir then finished up in the trees on the lower slopes. Friday we did a great upper powder bowl then drop into deep powder in the trees. Overall, it was a fantastic trip.

My 2010 trip to Ecuador with Small World Adventures. I spent the week with 8 others at the SWA lodge on the banks of the Rio Quijos. It was a fantastic trip. We had conditions from low water creeking on the Piatua to high water on the Quijos. The best run of the week was down the Oyacachi. I will return next year.

One Lap of America Part V
This was the Southwest portion of my Lap of America. John Gillis accompanied me to San Francisco for a business meeting. We picked up the Colorado River near Glenwood Springs and followed it through the Colorado Monument, Canyonlands, Cataract Canyon, Lake Powell, the north rim of the Grand Canyon, and Lake Mead. After flying over Hoover Dam we turned north to Death Valley, the Owen's Valley, Yosemite and on to the bay area. John flew back commercially while I flew around SF then headed south toward Mexico. I flew to the border then headed east along the border to El Paso. From there it was home again. I only have Texas to go to complete my journey. That will come next spring when Linda and I circumnavigate Texas.

Salmon River, Idaho - Spring 2009
This was our trip down the Middle Fork of the Salmon River in May, 2009. I air scouted the river the day before we put in looking for wood in the river that might be dangerous. The aerial photos are from my scouting mission. We caught the river at very high levels and had a wonderful trip. The water was huge, the weather was wonderful and the scenery was beautiful. We spent nine days on the river with seven paddle days and two layover days. Our layover days were spent hiking and lounging in various hot springs. It was a fantastic trip.

This was a brief trip through Canyon Country. I started from Farmington, NM and followed the San Juan River to Lake Powell. From there I flew along the north rim of the Grand Canyon. Then I headed to Mesquite, NV and up the Virgin River canyon toward Zion National Park. From Zion I flew to Bryce Canyon then on to Capital Reef National Park on my way to Moab. I overnighted in Moab before spending the day on a trials bike exploring Sovereign Trails. On the way home I got a few photos of the terrain around West Water and Ruby Horse Thief. The views all along the trip were fantastic.

Building an Airplane
I have always wanted to build an airplane so when I bought my townhouse in Golden I choose one where the basement could be modified into a shop suitable for the task. In August 2003, I attended builder’s school at Alexandra Tech Center in Georgia to learn building skills and construct the empennage. The kit arrived from Van’s Aircraft in October 2003 and after a lengthy inventory process, the building began. I completed the aircraft in December 2006 and it passed FAA inspection on December 26, 2006. My maiden flight in the plane was that same day. In January, 2007 I completed the required 40 hours of test flights. The plane went into the paint shop at the end of February, 2007 and was completed in early April. The first long cross country flight was in April when I flew the plane to the Sun-n-Fun fly-in in Florida. Since then I have begun a series of flights that will take me around the borders of the US with frequent sightseeing diversion along the way.
