Romancing the Text: A Conference on Translation in the Renaissance
One day Faculty Research Workshop, organized by Professors Eve-Alice Roustang-Stoller and Phillip John Usher of brought together Renaissance specialists from around the country to discuss how Renaissance translators influenced literary history both by importing foreign texts into established generic moulds (thus causing the moulds to change), by importing genres from abroad, and in various other manners. Speakers will included Tom Conley (Harvard University), Hope Glidden (Tulane University), Ana Pairet (Rutgers University), Karen Newman (NYU), Ayesha Ramachandran (Stonybrook, SUNY), Marian Rothstein (Carthage College), and others.
