Dr. George Engel Memorial Lecture
George L. Engel, MD (1913-1999) was a professor of medicine and psychiatry at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and is credited with developing the School’s biopsychosocial model of patient care, a hallmark of the University of Rochester medical curriculum. An anonymous donor from the Syracuse, NY area, who had been a patient of Dr. Engel, sponsored a lecture in honor of Dr. Engel on September 11, 2010 at the Lodge at Welch Allyn in Skaneateles, NY. The keynote speaker for the event was David R. Lambert, MD, associate professor of medicine at the University of Rochester School of Medicine and Dentistry. He completed an internal medicine residency at the New England Deaconess Hospital, a Harvard affiliate, where he received the Elmer Hinon Prize for outstanding physician-patient relationships. Dr. Lambert is also the Senior Associate Dean for Medical Student Education.
