Off on the Wilderness Trail, Headed to Osseo trail, back on Bondcliff Trail
Tikko's ready to start!
Finding some sticks to carry on the way
Just below the top of Mt. Flume
Tessa gingerly checks out the misty view
The birches are all yellow below.
Tikko is happy to lead the way and strike a pose for a bit.
Searching for the elusive panther below.
It looks like it'll be a sunny day...
Tessa on Mt. Flume
Tikko playing king of the mountain
Wait, when did we get to Nunavut?
This came out, despite not having a workable LCD screen.
And the mist rolls in
Heading into the shelter of the spruce
Cliff from the north country.
Tikko likes the frosty air.
In shelter, after Liberty and before Lafayette.
Pretty frosty spruce forest
Tessa in the woods
Wind blasted dogs
A little shake and a smile
Bracing for the blast
Down Garfield Ridge
Tessa's fur flaps in the wind
Whatcha smelling Tessa?
Frost blasted trail sign
On down the ridge
Hands too cold to get a good shot as the sun breaks through briefly
Ice crystals and flapped ear.
View back toward Lafayette.
Little game of tug of war.
Tikko always checks in.
Just making sure you didn't get lost!
Up the rocks
On top of Garfield Mnt. Tikko enjoys the view
Tess a too.
On the verge
Down to a shortcut back, but we're only looking.
Yay, soon we get to climb that ridge!
Tessa in the sun
Tikko checks the view again
Wait, I didn't quite catch that.
Whew, lets go!
Quite a scramble down.
Tikko handles it well.
View from the low point
More down hill
The ridge still to go
Yup, that signs mine!
Upsy Daisy.. I mean Tessa
The climb up was much steeper than it looks
Finally atop Guyot peak.
Some warm clad fellow hikers
to the beyond
That's some rugged terrain up in Maine!
Down toward Bondcliff
Stunted spruce and sniffing dog
Still ready to play!
Oh, is that ridgeback dog on that ridge?
Sun's getting low, time to hurry.
Last peak of the day, coming right up!
Sun sinks over the Mahoosic range
Still in the light, and still ready to go.
Looking down toward the Wilderness Trail that we'll eventually take back (in the dark)
You serious about another ten miles?
Toward Bondcliff, one the most picturesque peaks in the White Mountains.
Nice easy trail along the ridge.
Bathed in the glow of the setting sun, Tikko looks below.
Any cranberries left?
Up on top one last time before heading down. This is the last peak of the day.
And what a view it is!
Rays of the setting sun.
Ears up in the wind as we check out the view.
The ridge down
Happy Tessa in the yellow sunset.
Next day, it got dark on the ridge down so no more photos. This is the creek of the flume trail on the way up to the three pyramid (tripyramid) 4,000 footers.
Stick carrying time again!
Really pretty trail, dirt, and not much traffic.
The stick comes along!
By the birches.
Getting a quick drink.
Not much of a view from up here.
Tessa looks very alert.
I like big butts! And I can not lie, you other sistahs can't deny. When a dog walks in with a happy little grin and some big brown ears...
Waterville Mountain from North Pyramid.
Not sure, Sandwich Range maybe?
Tikko in the woods.
What, we're taking that trail down?
Tessa is very nervous.
Oh, that's why it was called the south slide trail.
Licking his chops in anticipation.
Tikko made it down quick, nice colors.
Doing a little dance.
Resting in the shade before hitting the slopes again.
Orange tree light.
Back at the car, last photo of the weekend. What a nice day!
Arctic blasts as I run the ridge and talk undecipherably. Was I singing or something?
Tikko tackles a descent that was tougher than it looks!
Tikko makes a climb on a tough trail.
And that's why they call it a slide trail. But where's the slide?
