Visit to Claremont Graduate University, first time after 41 years.
Places where I lived and studied in Claremont, 1966-72. The house in the background is where I lived from 1970-71. In the next few photos I'm sitting on a patio at Scripps College, where they used to serve an afternoon tea at 3 pm. The weekend of our visit was fall break, so there was no tea that day.
During my stay at Claremont, I sometimes used to go for evening meditation to a little garden at Scripps College, near the music hall, where there was a beautiful statue of Kuan Yin Bodhisattva. So much had changed at the Claremont campus that I was sure the garden and statue were gone. But when we went to the music hall, the garden was still there, along with Kuan Yin amidst the bushes! She must have been delighted to see me return in the robes of a monk. In the last photo I'm in front of 196 El Camino Way, where I lived in 1968-70.
