Post-Ewephoria shots with Sheepshead in the background.
Classic shot of approach terrain to Sheepshead - we became very familiar with the approach over the next week!
Shots of Warpath Dome on approach during the first of two days out to the dome
Note the 2nd major horizontal dike below the discrete vertical crack in the upper-middle of the face. P2 crosses from right to left on this dike and then up to the still-hidden-at-that-point crack on attention-getting terrain with quite scant pro. Yikes!
On this first day visiting the dome, the party was willing but ran into interference while finding its way up to the vertical crack, returning to the base without summitting.
The attention-getting P1 of Moby Dick, Whale Dome
The Gap" formation just down canyon of Whale Dome
Whale Dome during exit after climbing Moby Dick; we managed to independently disturb two foot-long rattlesnakes on the way out on this day!
Joan L, on P1 on a day we returned to finish Warpath. Joan then led P2 and found the hidden crack (thanks, Joan!). Cynthia then led P3.
Register on Sheepshead Dome after finishing all-too-early (!) on Peacemaker"
View of the SE side of Muttonhead from Sheepshead Dome. On the day before this one, we climbed Mystery of the Desert (a great route!) that lies out-of-view on the opposite side of Muttonhead. The descent from there is via the more broken terrain on the right side of the photo.
"Absinthe of Mallot" awaits!!
