'Piping' basted between the side seams, using a large zigzag stitch
After basting, the side seam is serged, some of the red basting thread is stil visible. Not on the outside, no one will see this.
This is the right side of the fabric. Fold the strip of fabric with the raw edge to the seam.
This is how it looks now, pinned and ready to topstitch.
