This is a bronze statue of the Mormon hand cart pioneers outside the Mormon Trail Center.
The Mormon's used hand carts instead of wagon and oxen on their trek from Navoo, IL to Salt Lake City, UT during the period 1846 to 1851.
The hand carts were more economical & faster than traveling by oxen & wagon.

The Mormons built 500 log homes in the Winter Quarters at Florence, NE (now Omaha, NE. The Mormons camped out in Florence, NE during the winter of 1846 -1847 while on the way to Salt Lake City UT.
They are posing at a replica of the Kanesville, IA store. This was the last store where the Mormons could buy provisions on their journey West to Salt Lake City, UT. Kanesville, IA is now known as Council Bluffs, IA.

When they returned home, Rhonda & Kirsten started reading some of the Little House on the Prairie books.
Mini-Beth especially liked the Little House picture book. "These pictures are as big as me!" said Mini Beth.
Kristen read aloud the stories in the School Days book while Mini Beth continued to enjoy her large picture book.
Samantha & Josefina got done with school for the day, and came to visit Kirsten & Rhonda. Kirsten told them all about the covered wagons & pioneer items at the Mormon Trail Center.

Mini Beth gets extremely bored while the dolls are talking about Willa Cather, who is another Nebraska author. Beth decides to take a nap on Mr. Curtis.

Rhonda lets Kirsten try on her hat. All the dolls admire how cute Kirsten looks. Mini Beth doesn't comment, she is too busy tormenting Mr. Curtis.
They show Kirsten some of the Dear America diary books that are set in Nebraska during Pioneer times. "I will have to read these books, they look very interesting" Kirsten said. Mini Beth meanwhile was jumping up and down on Mr. Curtis. Wheeeeeee, this is fun!!
Oh no!! Mr. Curtis is MAD at Beth!!! (After this picture, I had to hide Beth from Mr. Curtis. He was not happy with her antics at all.)
