Our first stop is at Johnny Rosenblatt Stadium, which is right next door to the zoo. This is where the NCAA College World Series has been held for over 50 years.
They pose on the Road to Omaha statue. This statue was added a few years ago when improvements & upgrades were made to the stadium.
Kirsten & Mini-Beth have been enjoying their stay in Omaha.
Norah Kathleen, Penny Brite, Mini-Beth, & Kirsten all got to come along today.
Can you spot Kirsten? She is one of the team!
There she is!
YAY! This is fun being so high up in the air .
This is the Desert Dome at the Henry Dorley Zoo.
Norah Kathleen & Kirsten stop to play on the lions statue at the zoo.
This is a favorite spot for kids & dolls to play.
This lion statue is made out of bronze.
Mini Beth & Penny come to play too.
This is a full view of the lions statue.
Mini Beth & Penny Brite decide that this would be a good way to see all of the zoo!
Mini-Beth said "Wow, I feel big all of a sudden".
A group of Penguins.
The hold their arms out & waddle like the Penguins.
"Hold your arms out like this & waddle!" Kirsten tells Beth & Penny.
Mini-Beth gets the idea of how to do this, but not Penny.
This is fun being a Penguin!!
"Come on, lets go waddle over there and see the real Penguins!"
It was feeding time in the Penguin's Artic display. (Notice the pail of fish next to the Zoo Keeper.)
The zoo keeps records of fish consumption for each penguin. Each penguin has a tag attached, one of the crew member notes the tag name & number and records how many whole fish that one gets. They crowd around the Zoo Keepers trying to get the fish.
The Artic display continually makes snow & it comes down from the ceiling. Notice the white spots, those are clumps of snow.
Bye, bye Penguins!! We are off to the Aquarium now...
EEK! A giant shark!!
Oooh, look at the Stingray!!
Look at all the fish in here.
AACK! There are some more big sharks!!
Look how big & pointy his teeth are!
This picture was taken overhead. There is a giant turtle and a few sharks that were swimming above us. In the Aquarium you are walking through a long tunnel with water all around you. It is so neat, these pictures don't show how amazing it really is.
"Whew! Lets sit here & rest a minute. Those sharks were rather scary." Kirsten said. Good thing she doesn't know there are sharks right behind her.
"These sharks are not scary at all!" Kirsten said. "See I can pet him."
Beth is not too sure that this shark is friendly.
"GET ME OUT OF HERE!" Beth yelled.
They are too busy playing with the sharks & turtles to pay any attention to Beth.
Oh oh! Where did Beth go? I don't see her.
Beth was over playing with the Penguins, so Norah Kathleen & Kirsten joined her.
This is the Jungle display. They are pretending to set up camp in the Amazon Jungle.
They pose by a pretty waterfall in the Jungle.
They decide to cross this rickety swaying bridge.
Hurry up you two, we need to keep together so no one gets lost in the Jungle.
Back at the house, Kirsten sits down to write to her Mom about her adventures at the zoo. Notice the cute postcards she bought at the gift shop.
I have so much news to tell her, there won't be enough room on these post cards.
Mini-Beth and Kirsten are admiring the jungle animals that they each picked out at the Zoo gift shop.
Every time we play with these animals, we will remember the fun we had at the Zoo!!
Thanks for looking at our zoo album, we hope you enjoyed it.
