This was the westernmost stretch of brick I could locate on Old FSR1. It may have been constructed this way -- the old bridge used to be about 20 yards west of this location. Old Spanish Trail near Bayou.

Restoration work, in progress. The concrete shoulder and bumpers are original; brick on the left is vintage, though probably not as old as the road itself. Brick is laid on a sand bed -- I didn't see any mortar in the newly reconstructed sections.
The is the present end of the line on Red Brick Road. Reconstruction is still in progress. Damaged brick, concrete, and blacktop have been removed, with new brick being laid on a sand bed between the original bumpers and road shoulders.
