The first overlook that gave us a view of half dome.
You can see the road cut in the rock face on the left. The water fall way far in the background is probably Yosemite... could be Bridal Vail... I don't really know.
We are really glad that we got to see this amazing place.
Lou looking up.
Upper Yosemite Falls
Site 115 - North Pines Campground
We are 23 ft 6" long.
The web site said the site max was 24 feet.
I should have checked the width. lol!!
Very nice CG.
300 + sites... you'd hardly know it was a crowded and almost full weekend of campers.
This is the campground...look straight ahead and you'll see a little yellow tent.
Bronze display of the layout of Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls.
This is just awesome to look at in person.
The campgrounds in Yosemite Valley are in the trees at the base of Half Dome.
You wake up...look up...and there it is.
Upper and Lower Yosemite Falls
Bubbles and Snow
You'd never know you were standing in the heart of Yosemite Valley. Upper Pines CG on the left of the river and North Pines on the right of the river. 300+ campsites FILLED and hardly a person in the pic.
Take a step to the side and there's the falls... and now
you can see some RV's in the trees on the left and a yellow tent on the right.
Open to the fresh air...Tour shuttle.
$25 each for a two hour tour.
We didn't do this.
Air Conditioned Shuttle Bus
Scale model of Yosemite Valley
The last glint of sun bounces off the top.
Look at the snow on the ledges.
One last walk around the cg before dark.
Friday morning, April 20th... time to leave.
We wondered if the summer help lived in these.
Notice they are on frames that lift them off the ground.
Also notice that the heaters sometimes give off a lot of smoke.
Leaving the valley.
One last glimpse of Upper Yosemite Falls... I'm snapping these as we drive by.
Here's a real scene stealer... (deer in the lower right ).
Heading out on hwy 140.
Do NOT feed the coyote.
The hills were covered with California Golden Poppies.
The hill across the river slid onto the road.
They moved the road to the other side and put in two one-lane bridges.
Crossing the first bridge.
Crossing the 2nd bridge.
Pretty Purple Posie
The purple flowers were on the ground.
purple trees were all around!!
TRANNY Problems again...
blew a clamp on the new tranny cooler.
Yep... it blew right there.
We've got one quart of tranny fluid along...
Don't dare spill a drop.
So Lou made this work.
Camped out at the Tranny Fix-it in Madera
these are our new camp chairs
Guard Dogs were excited to get ice water.
Had to clamp it so they wouldn't spill it.
It was 106 in the sun.
96 deg in the shade on Saturday...
Even hotter on Sunday.
Trying to make the fan blow cooler air...
this is who fixed our tranny.
TC up on the hoist.
Do you know what this is???
Ours is a f-350... this is a f-1
The clamp on the right is the one that came off.
Our fixed Tranny.
We spent most of the day on the internet...in the trailer in the back of the fix it shop. Very comfy.
Their office gal drove us to a really good place to eat.
Black Bear Diner.
and i posted a web cam pic of us on facebook.
(First time I'd used it.)
