I thought the loaf had finished rising and sprinkled the seeds onto it.
Then it began to knead again. Oh well, tastes good.

It's the 3/4 cup of whole wheat flour which gives the crumb its dark color.

I used sweet Italian sausage and browned it first.

"Roman" bread. I don't know why it's called that. According to my cookbook it's the house bread at Casa Vieja in Tempe, Az.

Too much of something. Either water, flour, or yeast. I'll halve the recipe and try again.
