MLK MEMORIAL IN WASHINGTON DC
I was able to finally visit the Martin Luther King Memorial in Washington, DC last summer. It is a simple, powerful tribute to one of the most important americans of all times. As you approach it you see a pathway flanked by two massive carved stones, you go through it to get to an expansive Plaza that overlooks the lake and the Jefferson Memorial on the horizon. In the middle of the Plaza you see the figure of Martin Luther King coming out of a huge solid piece of stone, tall and imposing, with his eyes looking straight into eternity. I was moved by being there, reflecting, watching groups of seniors citizens touching the stone, maybe praying, giving thanks, and youngsters happy to be there making it their own, connecting with the spirit of the place.
