The start of the walk in the Breamish Valley, and the view from our lunch spot
Climbing up to the first hill fort. It doesn't show, but is was very windy.
Ros ahead of me
360 degree panorama from the first hill fort. These forts date from the Iron Age, when apparently the weather was a lot warmer, so people lived and farmed on the hills. No mention of having too many cars though!
A closer look at the fort, now a circle of stones, but their are identifiable buildings (if you know what to look for).
Heading into the wind to the next fort.
The view up the Breamish Valley
The shadows were racing across the ground
The second hill fort. The little black dots are the heads of Duke of Edinburgh Award students.
The view to the south
Unusually Holly decided to have a good roll
She seems to have enjoyed it
Trees will grow just about anywhere
We'd crossed this valley about 400 yards away and an hour or so ago
Heading back towards the car, which is in the next valley
