Welcome to IBC 2009
A busy floor like every year.
All the usual suspects seem to be present, but it felt like their were fewer folks walking around. The recession at work ?
Astra showing a rugby match from one of their sattelites. Drawing a crowd is the first part of selling your product.
UPC is the biggest Dutch cable provider.
So lets dip into the VLC using companies. I saw many companies using VLC, but mostly for on site test purposes.
and as a demo on a multiviewer.
The volume indicator makes VLC really easy to spot at greater distance btw :D
Softel demoing one of their IP streams.
Look, our dear friends from DTS® inc.
DMT was VERY unfriendly and tried to prevent me taking this photo. I convinced them I was only interested in the VLC part of their screen, but due to the commontion I forgot Macro mode.
BEC.lu shows the output of their Channel branding system.
And arbor is running their demo's in VLC media player.
Hms HTTP stream
This was the latest craze. Using digital picture frames instead of pieces of cartboard to put a nametag on your product.
A picture of me on a 3D display.
This is a Segway like device.
Note how they are controlling with the "sadle" between the legs. Have to keep those arms free when you are a cameraman.
A variant is this 3 wheeled buggy.
Or you just skeeler around with your camera.
And you can always just FLY your camera around of course.
And that can be done electric and in HD 1080p.
Or the old fashioned way, which is with gasoline. (this one was used for MANY movies. Several of the Harry Potter movies, but also for GI Joe for instance.)
Of course you need audio with your video.
and that requires a lot of buttons.
a LOT of buttons.
You an clearly see the raised plexiglas platforms here. Those are for laptops, with more buttons.
This is the guy that sells those buttons. Even the buttons have screens now btw. OLED has reached the mixing tables for sure.
and big ass lights are important as well of course.
and this aquarium with rain, proves that this producer's lights and electrics are truly waterproof.
Cranes to move your cameras around. Long...
The 3D displays were really 'THE' hype thing this year it seems. This shows actually the camera they use for this.
This is a professional camera rig for 3D filming.
But to be honest, people looks just plain stupid when they have those glasses on. And the more people watching, the weirder it looks.
but a hype is a hype i guess.
So the cameras. Too be honest, I have no idea what is cool here.
But the test displays were present as always.
and I have seen girls used in the 3D greenwall setups before, but to abuse them for high resolution and superfocus camera displays makes me feel uncomfortable.
This was at the gamezone. 10 PS3 setups. Not sure how it was related to IBC.
A small signal setup.
A large rack.
But it can always be bigger. This is a full scale truck. They use these things for FIFA world championships for instance.
It's patch board is a BIT bigger.
And looks like this on the other side.
One of the 3 directing units in the truck, and behind the glass is a sound proof section for commentary.
From end to end inside the truck.
