LCD TV we decided on...Philips 19".
Old analog TV. It was on a lazy susan type pull out shelf. I just never liked the pointed cabinet. It was made to rotate toward either the living area or overhead cab.
Another shot of old TV.
Old TV beside new LCD TV. Screens are about same height but the LCD is wide screen.
Old TV out of cabinet. Demolition time :)
The bottom of cabinet was actually sandwich of 2 piece of luan and 1X framing. I was trying to remove just the pointed part but cabinet just didn't seem solid enough. Plus, the stiles on sides were cut at a bevel and it wasn't possible to cut these straight with cabinet in place.
Cabinet removed! I'll cut a piece of solid oak to go on side of the remaining cabinet and through bolt the full motion arm to it. The piece of oak will be attached to the other cabinet and ceiling.
Reached a point where I decided to connect new TV and try out with MH antenna. This is a watching the winter olympics. I was surprised at how well just the standard bat-wing antenna did.
New piece of solid oak and full motion mount.
TV mounted...watching NASCAR :)
Swing back toward wall as far as possible for travel. Will build/mount a set of shelves to hold DVD and for TV to rest on during travel.
Inside cabinet where through bolted. I used a thin piece of 1" wide aluminum as a backer and nylon type lock nuts.
