Trail climbs up through the forest.
Up onto the ridge - a mix of meadows and trees.
I had a little companion along part of the trail.
Check out the view!
I found this cairn. I thought it might be the summit of Elk Mountain, but the visibility was awful, and I couldn't tell if I was higher than the surrounding terrain. The trail had gone up, down, up, down. Well, turns out I had gone 2 km past Elk. The was a high spot on the ridge toward Mount Thurston. Who knew?
Visibility getting better, on the trail back.
Looking down into the Chilliwack River Valley.
Ooooh, a view!
Apparently, this is abeam the summit of Elk. Used by paragliders, checking the wind. I found this out later. Screaming wind!
