Starting at the intersection of Rte 126 and Rte 144, park the truck, let the dogs out and start running...that's Marley, she smells the cows and thinking "Oh, boy, cows to chase!"
See the pie in the lower left? They were everywhere...
The road was pretty much like this for the first 10 miles out and up around 8500'.
Awesome New Mexican rock formations lined the road
Nice training grounds!
Cattle guard, we were hoping that would be the last of them...but not!
San Antonio mountain to our right most of the day, i was down in that canyon last weekend.
Nice smooth running surface
Now that's a load of Bull!
Deb up ahead with Marley on a leash...we had to keep putting them on the leash due to campers and cows.
The road got a little washed out in sections
Marley and Gibbs enjoying the day
This was out around 10 miles, the road got bad, but not too bad! We had several more miles to go before we'd turn around...
Yes, still on 144...
More cool rocks in the woods...
Three tall ponderosas in a row, almost like they were planted there.
Some people camping at a nice spot, but the cows were all over them.
Mama and her baby
Start of day 2 on Sunday morning. Here we riked from the intersection of Rte 4 in La Cueva and Rte 106, which we followed almost to the San Antonio river, but the weather was getting rumbly so we turned around.
Really green in here
Green fields to our right
The road was nice for awhile
This is where the road started to get a little rough, near Thompson Ridge Estates
This is still Rte 106
Getting rougher, but still beautiful
Road becoming a trail, but so green
Another tree bug like last week
Really nice and backwoods in here...some of my friends back East would never believe this is New Mexico!
Deb just had to....btw, it's really awesome having her back! :-)
We did about 14 miles on this road today...7 out and back.
Road was really washed out here
Deb walking through a meadow we found out near where we turned around
A nice pond, the dogs would have loved it. (They had to rest today after doing 34 miles over the past 2 days)
A funky red huge mushroom we saw
Heading back now, the sky is rumbling
They are everywhere!
