Gary Cuffin and Deb up ahead of me. I forgot to take pictures at the start and the first three runners were out of sight before I could get the camera out.
Bandelier State Forest is a beautiful place
Dave Dixon, the RD, just passed us on a climb out of Frijoles Canyon. He was waiting on some late arrivals who never showed.
To my right
To my left
Alamo Canyon? We'll be climbing up on that Mesa on the right.
Nice trail, getting hot.
Deb wanted to get this shot of me running up the hill
Deb running down a sandy trail
Steep dropoff on some pumice
Deb in a cave showing her best Barbara Walters photo smile
Dave Dixon and Gary Cuffin on the return, the Stone Lions (destination) is only about a half mile from here. Gary turned around and joined us because we were going to do a Painted Cave out and back to get in a long run.
The Stone Lions
On the Painted Cave out and back now, Deb taking some rocks out of her shoe.
It's up there on the left
Really hot in this canyon today, upper 80's.
There it is...
Some weird art, man!
Ancient Indian paintings...at least some of them are ;-)
Looking up from below
AA back then? Chupacabra on the upper left.
Somehow I think teenagers were touching these...
On our way out, Deb taking more rocks out of her shoes.
Getting really hot now
Sangre de Christo Mountains in Santa Fe still holding on to their snow...wish I was there so I could lie in it!
Nice cliffs everywhere
We did a lot of walking on the way back, Gary took a different route to see if it was longer. We got back before he did, but only by about 5 minutes.
Cool trail work
Nice runnable trails....too bad we've run out of water and have an hour left to go.
Looking across to the trail we will be climbing soon....hard to see from here, but this is a canyon wall and the trail switches back and forth up it.
Oh, heaven....I plunged in feet first, soaked the head, arms and legs.
Still climbing, this is the final picture because when I reached the top, I ran to the car to get to some cold cokes I had in a cooler ;-)
