Typical of the Old Peggy Mesa Road down low.
It got rougher as we got higher
Some views behind us....that's Guadalupe Box Canyon
11,000+' Redondo is always in view anywhere in this area. Redondo is up near our house in the Jemez.
The road continues on....all uphill for about 8 miles, we never reached the top.
Very nice surprise! We are now getting back into the Ponderosa Pines around 7500'.
View through the trees.
An old monster tree we came upon....it even has teeth!
It was taunting us to come into the woods, but we wouldn't.
More of the road...
Another look at Redondo behind us with the Guadalupe cliffs in the foreground.
Now we're above 8000' and into the snow
It was getting rough to get through, about ankle deep.
Some cat tracks we came upon...Gibbs liked them, too.
Gibbs is not a small dog, about 75 pounds, to give you an idea of the size of this cat!
The Jemez Mountains, our home!
The snow got too deep and we decided to turn around at 2.5 hours and at 8500'. The road tops out at 9100' and we'll be back!
It was a fantastic run down, about 1:45 of downhill running!
