(April 19, 2011) California Chief Justice Tani Cantil-Sakauye and Solano County Superior Court Presiding Judge D. Scott Daniels attend the ceremony celebrating the opening of the new additions to the Law and Justice Center.
Administrative Director of the Courts Bill Vickrey on the steps of the Law and Justice Center in Fairfield addresses local government leaders, including county supervisors, Fairfield city and police officials, representatives from the Solano County Sheriff's Office and dozens of Solano County Superior Court staff.
As the Presiding Judge of the Superior Court of Solano County, Hon. D. Scott Daniels manages 23 judicial officers. Solano's growing population had made local court facilities inadequate.
"What this means is that the court is getting the much needed additional space for more court operations," Daniels said. "In short, we're moving into the 21st century ... a giant step for this court."
Chief Justice Cantil-Sakauye heralded the Solano project as a model for the state. "I stand here as a grateful admirer of your work," Cantil-Sakauye said.
Tuesday's unveiling celebrated the final phase of a $4.8 million improvement effort that adds two new courtrooms in Fairfield and improves public access and security.
