Edwards AFB Open House, October 16 & 17, 2009
This event was memorable if only for the variety of aircraft you could see here. Most of the air show on Saturday was pretty much "normal" for a Southern California air show. However, the "Edwards Unique" stuff was what would get your attention. . White Knight and White Knight II came over from Mojave. The formation of B-52, B-1, and B-2. The double sonic boom opening. Chuck Yeager and Joe Engle. Then there were the static aircraft on the flightline and in the hangar: F-35 and X-47B, F-16XL and F-16 VISTA, one of the Space Shuttle carrying 747's and several other NASA aircraft, Global Hawk (both USAF and NASA) and then there were the museum aircraft. Well worth the drive and the motel room. Oh, and having a media pass that let me shoot photos from along the runway on Friday didn't hurt!
