Cleared immigration quickly and headed directly to the Couples Resorts lounge.
Quickly changed into flip flops and shorts ...
... and had our first Red Stripes waiting for us ...
... which we took with us on the Couples bus to Negril from Montego Bay.
So many shacks like this along the trip. And goats. Everywhere.
We had the opportunity to make a pit stop, which we were psyched about.
Kevin spotted this funny little sign ... wonder how long B. Spence has had those intentions.
And I spotted this on the counter ... Welcome to Jamaica!
Kevin grabbed a Red Stripe.
I opted for the rum punch.
The jerk chicken barrel ... cannot describe how GOOD this smelled.
One of our bus mates grabbed some jerk.
Quite the knife!
We took our Red Stripe back on the bus ...
... and the rum punch, too!
Our first look at the Couples Negril lobby, which was completely open.
We were greeted with champagne and cool, wet towels.
Lobby ceiling fan
First look at the fabulous pool, swim-up bar, and beach beyond. Wanted to jump up and down the second I saw this!!
We had an ocean view room in building 7.
The bed, which was uber comfy.
Every day there was a new towel configuration on the bed ... here's the first one.
Kevin takes in the view from our balcony.
The pond below
Our first glimpse of Bob the grey heron who lived outside our room.
It was tie dye day.
Kevin brings us our first drinks! I have a photo just like this of every vacation we've ever been on.
My first Dirty Banana ... so super yummy!!
Jerk chicken ... nom!
Jerk Sauce ... we took some home with us.
First day at the pool
The swim-up bar was especially hopping during the mid to late afternoon.
The non-water side of the swim-up bar.
Relaxing on the couches
Just like home!
Sun starts to set.
Hammocks everywhere at the resort.
First of many beautiful flowers I photographed.
Late afternoon at the beach.
All the beach and pool cushions floated in the ocean and the pool ... absolutely brilliant!
One of two swings we found on the grounds.
Cassava Terrace, location of our dinner that evening ... it, too, is completely open on all sides.
Chandeliers in Cassava Terrace
The pool and jacuzzi area at night.
One of two jacuzzis at night.
Turn down service every night was so nice. We had a Jamaican proverb on our bed every night.
Bob's morning appearance
Bob in motion
The Treehouse where they do couples massages.
Just in case the 6,000 bars, personalized mini bar, and red flag service aren't enough, there is a self-service bar.
Morning at the beach. So amazed how much care they put into making everything perfect ... someone raked the beach every morning for us.
How we knew what time it was. I used that sundial a lot ... time kinda warped down there.
Morning fruit ... the white fruit on the right is lychee.
Mimosas every morning, poolside.
One of my favorite things about the resort ... SYRUP OF THE DAY! This morning's was coconut.
A beautiful day awaits us at the pool.
The water was so clear and so warm.
Bubbles, the dive boat.
Kevin and I took the floaties out on the ocean. After I calmed down about the dark objects in the water (seaweed, not sharks), it was pretty relaxing.
I love those blue wicker chairs!
I stared up at those palm trees all week!
Red flag service
My second favorite drink ... Miami Vice
Ready for the bonfire that night
Chicken patty ... spicy and yummy. Totally self-serve also. You can grab one when you want.
We ventured off the resort to walk the beach on Bloody Bay.
The resort's glass bottom boat
All watersports were included ... kayaking, sailing, paddle boats, snorkeling, AND scuba diving.
They grill fresh-caught lobsters here.
Sparkly dress tree ... you can't see it but these dresses have little reflectors all over them. A number of the women at the resort bought them.
Conch? Conches? Conchi?
A little rasta carving on one of the trees.
Dressed and ready to go to the beach dinner
Dinner buffet on the beach
More cute lights
They had these carved watermelons at every meal ... such care was put into everything.
Ice sculptures were common as well.
You can't see him, but there is a man LIMBOing under that pole of fire.
Steel drum band
Yes, that is coming out of his mouth.
He smelled like gasoline. Hope they have a good health plan for him.
I actually fell asleep while we watched the fire burn out. So relaxing.
Good morning, Bob!
Bob is itchy.
A cute little bird at the tippy top of the palm next to our balcony.

Food was amazing!
I loved the tile!

The deck at Heliconia Grill
The hut by our building.
The resort offered a trip to watch the sunset at Rockhouse.
Looking down ...
So many choices!
I ended up with the Hummingbird and Kevin had the Big Bamboo.
Snacks and yummy food, too!
We made it back in time for lobster night, which they serve in all the restaurants. We chose to eat in Heliconia that night.
My best shot of my lobster tails.
Jamaican Blue Mountain coffee on our deck
This is worth about US$1.25.
I couldn't believe it either. A rainbow!!
Bob started his mornings on top of the hut and then flew to his favorite palm tree branch.
Bob gets his breakfast.
Included watersports list
"Lots of marine life come out at night" ... no, thank you!
Breakfast buffet at Cassava Terrace
Smoked marlin ... yes, I tried it despite it being on the red list. Tasted like bacon!
Bob leaves his pond.
Bob heads for the pool.
Kiwi syrup today. And fried bammy. Nom!
I have got a lovely bunch of coconuts ...
... which I took to our pool chairs.
One of many, many hammocks.
Yet one more thing I could not believe ... a hummingbird!
Photo taken from the pool.

An afternoon cricket game
The wedding area
Hooray! Our (first) catamaran trip!
The "cigar cigar cigar cigarettes Its gonna be hot, hot, hot" guy.
My Rasta Angel who grabbed my bag when I was getting on the boat. "Waist-high wading" turned into "face-high wading" when I got clocked by a wave right in the face. Rasta Angel saved my camera and all my stuff.
Rockhouse, where we had drinks and snacks while watching the sunset the night before.
Kevin was the second one in the water ... pretty sure those rum punches had something to do with it. We were in deep water so I gingerly went down the ladder so as not to attract sharks in the area.
Kevin floating about. Shark bait.
Took 3 (ok maybe 4) rum punches to get me comfortable enough to do this. Even so, I was the first one back in the boat!
Lychee, the Asian-ish restaurant, for dinner that night.
The meal started off with a very yummy something but I can't recall exactly what it is.
Delicious lychee martini
The tasting platter for two was quite tasty.

Its my birthday!!
Guess how old?
Some shells I found the day before.

More fresh fruit
Kevin's little banana syrup cup
And my birthday banana syryp french toast!
And a dumpling, a pile of bacon, cheese, and banana bread.
And some pastries ... chocolate croissants were delicious!
Me listening to some tunes on my birthday on my pool chair.
I found a STARFISH in the water on our beach walk.
The dive boat headed out for the morning dive.
We took a glass bottom boat tour of Bloody Bay and Seven Mile Beach.
I couldn't get good photos because we were in motion and I was slow, but we saw huge starfish, lots of fish, a flying sting ray, and some amazing coral.
The water is so amazing!!
The steel drum band serenaded us around lunch time.
Kevin swimming by the swim-up bar.
Ice sculpture carving demonstration
Self portrait while we wait for someone to take us to our private beach dinner. They poured us champagne at the door which we sipped while we walked through the resort to our table.
Food was so good!
Looking back at the resort from our table.
Only photo of the food ... the dessert.
Bob in a new pose.
Bob does the Karate Kid.
Ooooo .... cute white bird!
He's a white egret.
And people hand-fed him.
The lobby overlooking the pool has 3 porch swings that are really nice.
We went on a nature walk with the head groundskeeper.
Bob didn't like us getting too close to his roost.
I love this photo.
Reggae dance lessons
Waiting area outside Otaheite, where we ate the last night. I regret I don't have pictures to share. The meal was amazing and I had the best caesar salad of my life there -- they made it tableside in a little crispy cheese bowl and topped with crisp thick bacon.
So much fresh fruit!
Our second catamaran cruise
This time, no 5 foot wave to smack me in the face.
Favorite photo EVER. Kevin's second slide off the catamaran. And his second time landing on his behind. As he said, the last thing he heard was ... "dohhh!"
Yes, that is me. Blind as a bat and squinting to try to see. Photo taken after my own slide off the catamaran. I had a pristine, no-splash Greg Louganis style entry, of course.
Under the boat
The house band played during dinner every night.
One of the many, many wonderful things about Couples is that you can customize your own mini bar.
And no tiny bottles ... full-size only.
Last breakfast with syrup of the day and its my favorite, coconut.
Relaxing on a hammock
Oh right, they have an AN section.
Oh, yes he did!
We took a tour of the kitchen.
I won the cash pot in the afternoon!
Lunchtime dessert table before anyone touched it!
Finally noticed that the chandelier was made of shells.
Outdoor sink at the bathroom by the pool and little white towels to dry your hands.
I love lighting ... this is in the bathroom. :)
This was so yummy. Made from grapefruit!
It was casino night ... Kevin won big and went home with a bottle of rum.
Rum cream and a Jameson's.
Yellow-crowned Night Heron (I think!) !!
The game room ... I never went in but Kevin won the billiards tournament.
Time to go ... :(!!
So what if it wasn't even 10am yet! Its 5 o'clock somewhere. We had burgers before our flight home ... highly recommend to anyone to do the same.
Absolutely! We'll be back next year!
