Lake levels change constantly--From High-year Full Starts...
To Low- year Low finishes
Each Spring starts with winter ice...
With room on the beach for ice to become water
As snow and ice melt...
The shoreline marches up the beach
And the fill begins!
With more Spring temperatures comes more winter snowmelt
As the lake rises, banks and beaches disappear
Until the lake is full--YAY!
Now, shoreline meets treeline
And sometimes goes even further
This sign, just below the beach access paved road, can be underwater(when full) or 1/2 mile from water at the lake's lowest
But, after peak full, the lake starts to recede, gradually
And the signpost and more beach appear
Until you have a fair hike to the shoreline
As the lake continues to shrink in the Fall...
It looks more like a wide river approaching the Dam
In the lowest years, water can stop flowing through the drain at the Dam
Fall 2007--only 1994 got even lower!
The rarely seen bottomless boat at the bottom of the lake
So, from nearly no beach...
To nearly 1/2 mile of sand and mud...
With woes and tows when it hits its lows...
This place goes from one extreme...
But ALWAYS LOOKS GREAT!
