Домбай / Dombay, Caucasus
Dombay - a mountainous area in Karachay-Cherkessia in the basin of the Kuban River in the North Caucasus, 65 km to the summit of Mount Elbrus and 60 km to the Black Sea coast.

Compound of 3 main valleys Dombai - Alibek, Amanauz and Dombay-Ulgen - forms a natural center of the territory, a picturesque Dombay meadow, lying at an altitude of 1600 meters above sea level.
The word "Dombay" means in Karachai "bison". Once in Dombay forests roamed herds of mighty giants.
Name of the highest mountain is Dombay-Ulgen, in the language of the original inhabitants means "bison killed". There is another version according to which Dombay field was named in honor of the hunter by the name of Dommay, which is pursuing the rounds, killing the beast, but could not resist, fell from the highest mountain in the gulf, and crashed.
