Colorful sunrise above Yankee Boy Basin.
Dominic & Sarah with mighty Potosi.
Teakettle and Coffee Pot
Gilpin looking mighty fine.
Heading up to Lavender Col with the s.w. ridge in background.
Another sunrise to enjoy over Potosi.
Sarah & Stoney.
Potosi looking very formidable in winter.
Nearing the base of Lavender Col.
Firm snow greats us on Lavender Col, probably the best conditions I've seen on a 14er in winter.
We ended up on the left side of the col and leave snowshoes as it's getting to steep for them.
A brief stint in the upper couloir. The 4th class exit near the top is tricky in winter, so we exit stage left very early and gain the ridge.
Climbing steep snow to the ridge.
Only one more crux along the ridge, otherwise it's smooth but exposed sailing.
The traverse to the summit.
Nearing the summit.
Downclimbing the steepest snow to the col.
Kismet and Potosi.
Teakettle, Coffee Pot, Potosi
Another glorious view of Gilpin.
Yankee Boy descent.
View of 13er T5 from near the site of Dominic & Sarah's wedding. Can you spot the Secret Cross?
Closeup of the Secret Cross on T5, which we climbed last June.
The crux of the day was getting past these monster icicles!
It was just a bit creepy walking past these monsters on an exposed road!
The narrowest part of the shelf.
