The interior of Port Logan Fish Pond, Port Logan, Wigtownshire, Scotland. The pond was designed to provide a supply of fresh (but salt-water!) fish to the local laird. It was excavated out of sold rock in the eighteenth century by workmen using only basic hand tools. It is fed from a tunnel leading to the outside of the cliff and the water is refreshed on every high tide.
