Dan outside a random building in Varenna
Just a quick wander to the lake
One of the many little walkways through Varenna
Bruschetta and beer, delicious!
Never a bad coffee in Italy...
A peep of a Daschund ear. Dan wouldn't let me keep him :(
Looking out over the harbour
Not quite local brew, but unpasteurized and unfiltered
Bellini, bellini, bellini!
Not quite like the last Bellagio we were at...
Us @ Bellagio
Dan on our balcony
View from our Balcony over looking Varrena directly below, Bellagio the lumpy bits to the top left
Menaggio to the right, where we took the car ferry from
Chiavenna - a little town we stopped at for nibbles during our random drive to Switzerland for lunch
Just about more patriotic than the US but not quite as the UK during a Royal Wedding
The village of Chiavenna has buildings that have features from the 1600's. And amazing views...
Yes that's a village. No idea HOW they get there. Hot Air Balloon?
Bunting Italian style. (I still don't get bunting, random triangles of cloth? What a waste...)
Vineyards nestled in the hills
Amazing quiet little streets
I miss Italian food already. I ate Bresaola with just about every meal
Driving on towards Switzerland, lots of amazing slate stone roofs
Spring is a great time of year to see heaps of waterfalls
A little village Madesimo
Us at Madesimo
And now look up!
Above Madesimo. Starting to see more snow!
Omg more snow!
Lots of little chalets and villages up near the snow - it's crazy
It's not quite the Yield cover, but definitely worth taking the pic ;)
High on a hill there's a lonely Goatherd...
Goats, that wore big massive bells! so cute
Sunbathing in a bikini at nearly the top of the pass through the alps, and he turns up on a Harley. Seriously you couldn't write ridiculousness such as this...
New fave camera angle - rear view mirrors. The MCMXXXI thing is a concrete dam covering Lago di Montespluga
We didn't QUITE take a wrong turn. But this is Lago di Montespluga. Par frozen, almost like Greenland that we saw out the window on ourway to Vegas. Stunningly beautiful, and eerie.
Otherside of the Dam
More Lago di Montespluga
A very light rock I picked up. This is now standing up as part of my 'rocks I pick up on holiday to add extra weight to my already small 20kg limit' collection. Even stands up on it's own!
Switzerland - finally! Now how do we get home?
Red wine all the time, I love European living...
Dan being a stuffed animal. Agreeing to posing for photos such as these ones is why I married this man!
Only one reason I asked Dan to drive to Switzerland for lunch... CHEESE FONDUE
Oh my god I could eat this every day (and would be the size of a house, but happy)
Look at that cheese bubble!
We got beaten by the Fondue. Still half a pot left.
Switzerland. As expected!
Lake Locarno Switzerland. Another out of the window shot, but I couldn't resist! Somewhere there is an invisible line in this lake where everything changes from Swiss to Italian. You cross the border into Italy and immediately the road narrows by a foot and deteriorates till it's barely passable. In comparison, Swiss roads are awesome.
Back at Lake Como for Sunset
MORE Bresaola please - our last meal at the amazing Varenna Mon Amour
Pumpkin Gnocchi - like eating pillows
Final nibbles of deliciousness with Grappa for Dan
Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
Outside the Duomo
Intricately moulded doors to the Duomo
Wow. Just wow.
Top of Galleria Vittorio Emanuele II
The Duomo in central Milan. Probably the most amazing church I have been in. So incredibly beautiful
