On 12th September, I went to Wicken Fen to the opening of a new cycle bridge.
Groups cycled and walked from all directions. About 30 of us went from Anglesey Abbey near Cambridge.
I took this photo by accident, but I quite like it!
The new bridge is in sight.
Here's a better photo of the new bridge.
There were about 150 people there. Some had brought unusual bikes, like this boy on a miniature penny farthing.
The new bridge is good for horses too.
The National Trust gave us all lunch: burgers from a farm in the village.
There was also the opportunity to try out paddleboarding on the river. I had a go. It was fun!
There's only one more bridge to build before you can cycle the whole way from Anglesey Abbey to Wicken Fen. Here people are carrying their bikes over the bridge that needs replacing.
Afterwards, I did a bit of geocaching. Here's a self-portrait I had to take as part of an earthcache.
Near another cache, cows by a river with a typical English church spire in the background.
