Flash Diet (MFA Spring '11 Final)
The purpose of this project was to photograph one example of Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, a Snack and Dessert from before dieting and then during the diet. This was inspired by the Flash Diet where instead of keeping a food diary people kept track of their food by taking pictures. I didn't realize how lacking in color (aside from brown) that my meals were prior to the diet. I can see now by comparison the amount of green I have added in. The actual diet is called "Slow Carb Diet" which eliminates white carbs, dairy and fruit (excluding tomatoes) from the diet.
My process was lighting all of the before foods with artificial indoor lighting and all the during the diet with natural sunlight. I used my dishes and place mat even for the purchased food to keep consistent. In terms of post production, all have been sharpened with shadow to compensate and a few had auto contrast, but nothing more not even a cropping.
