KEITH CARTER - INNOVATION CREATION
Keith Carter, UCM ’07, blurs the boundaries between real and imagined biological forms, and explores their relationships with man-made objects. With a history of inspiration from nature, his work simultaneously evokes the uncanny and the scientific.
Working mostly in unglazed porcelain, Carter creates his work in multiple pieces for easy control and transportability. He also incorporates several materials other than clay, including wood; steel; glass; synthetic and natural hairs and fibers; resins; plastics; and rubber.
Keith Carter graduated from Central Missouri State University (now UCM) in 2007. In 2011 he completed a Master of Fine Arts degree in ceramics at Southern Illinois University in Carbondale.
