To exit the town hikers have to travel over the Feather river on this bridge.
Indian Creek bridge (mi 1290.5) has a great swimming hole.
The first part of the climb out of Belden is through a burned section, It is best to hike this in the early morning or late afternoon on a hot day.

Upon entering Mt Lassen National Park, the first thing one notices these piles of down timber. THey will be eventually burned when fire danger passes.

I stopped for lunch at Lower Springs Lake (mi 1361) and was joined by this friendly doe.
