Brilliance is what simply exudes from this masterpiece of a frame from Wilier Triestina. As the Lamborgini Reventon is to the Murcielago, the Zero.7 is to the Cento Uno. Before we get into the Technological aspects of the Wilier Zero.7, we must point out the beauty of its curves and angles which give it a classic yet progressive look. The asymmetry of the carbon tubes and the delicate attention to the layup of the carbon give the Zero.7 a Da Vinci esque flair all shown with our twohubs build at under 12lbs.
Now to the technology behind the masterpiece which makes the Zero.7 top the list of upper echelon frames available. From the top down, it's pure innovation! The first attribute is the Special Elastic Infiltrated (SEI) film within the composite lay-up, technology brought from the aerospace and auto industries. Wilier is the first bicycle company to utilize the SEI technology. What this translates to are three basic elements; first, increase of flex strength by approximately 12%. This creates a stiffer laminate which performs better in stress-strain tests.
The second attribute of SEI film which you the rider benefits from immediately is the massive increase in vibration damping of the frame. We all noticed this feature while testing Zero.7 at twohubs. This bike was truly as if we were riding on air!
The third result of the SEI film is the decrease of intermediate modulus carbon, typically used to fill and blend with the stiffer 60 ton high modulus carbon. This translates to a lighter weight frame yet again. The Zero.7 utilizes MR60H Mitsubishi carbon in all areas of high stress, and with such a high grade material, again more weight is saved. As used for the Cento Uno, and Cento Uno sl, Wilier uses a resin base comprised of zinc oxide nano spheres. These particles serve as a structural filler to lower the void between the carbon fibers for added strength and lower weight.
The Zero.7 uses a standard 31.6 seatpost instead of the ISP used on the Cento Uno in order to add to the comfort of the frame.
The frame is available in two variations, one with external cable routing, as well as a Di2/ EPS version with internal routing.
reminiscent of its brethren CentoUno and the Cento Uno SL.The Zero.7 uses 1-1/8" to 1-1/4" tapered head tube which is rounded on the upper and squared off on the lower side. The squared lower section of the headtube makes the steering more precise and stable.
The Use of the patented BB386 EVO Bottom bracket resulting in the Over-sized seat tube and Down tube, resulting in a combination which produces possibly the strongest, stiffest and lightest juncture or joint if you may call it. Furthermore, the advantage of the BB386 is that you can virtually use any crankset that you would like, be it external or internal bearings.
The frame is only available in one color, matte carbon swirl with red and white accenting. But hey we are just fine with that!
