Positive Vibrations (5.11a), Incredible Hulk, CA
Though school hasn't started yet for us quarter system folk, Nat and I decided to head out to California a bit early to climb in the Sierra Mountains and Yosemite region. Our first objective was Positive Vibrations (5.11a) on the Incredible Hulk, an amazing formation in the High Sierra. With 8 consecutive pitches of 5.10 or harder climbing, Positive Vibrations is quite sustained and features some incredible crack climbing on perfect granite. The climb itself went really well for us, but we got caught in a downpour and a freaky lightning storm as we tried to descend. Although we got thoroughly soaked and spent a cold, unexpected second night at camp, I felt like the awesome climb was worth every second of the subsequent misery, and then some.
