The Women's beginner group, starting just after the beginner men.
..and they're off! Tweeet!
A moment for a few artsy shot - my favorite: macro fungus.
This was a neat looking cluster growing on the grass.
One of the younger riders, she's going to be a star if she keeps this up!
A little congestion in front of Jen..
The group clears the log..
Kerri gets over the log!
She looks like she's enjoying herself!
Time for another fungus break..
It's like a little forest in the forest, the moss was quite beautiful..
Seeing the fungus from the trees..
Jen coming in to finish! 2nd - woohoo!
The *huge* Intermediate field, the highest concentration of sandbaggers on the island.
Can you spot the sandbaggers?
And we're off! Roland actually had a pretty good race, when he stayed on the trail that is. =)
Whoa! There i am!
Ride the bike Roland, don't fight it!!
ha ha - you can see the speed demon Nick in the background (blue and pink) dealing with his technical..somehow he still finished ahead of me.
That's a lap down...it all went downhill from there..
Rollie would have finished much higher than 9th...good on ya!
Oh yes, he passed me on the hill and i never saw him again..
Hurray for cyclocross. It's SOOO much better than road racing!
I stopped in the store for some cigarettes....at this point, they're not going to hurt...ha ha ha..
This fellow lapped me a few times!
..the grass was pretty rough-going as well, very bumpy.
Rollie actually made good time by running past the log rather than riding it..
I was able to ride the log each time, but don't know if it would have been any faster than running...
Coming in for the final lap..
Pow! It's done.
My friend Jen wasn't done however! Coach Dave talked her into doing the Women's Open race as well!
She's lovin' it!
Yet more fungus..
..and a fun guy. ha ha..
The downhill portion was certainly fun. And of course, no straight lines..all momentum was lost in that turn-off..
The view from the other side.
Errinne Willock may have found her new calling, she finished 2nd in her first race in the Open Women!
Matt Dilay enjoyed the hill about as much as i did.
Yay - go Jen!
I can smile because i'm only walking up the hill now..
Derek had a solid ride on his new Everti.
Here's the muddy section, it was quite reasonable.
Tanya and Lisa duked it out all race.
Jen and her new best friend. =)
Go Norm! How about them hills? =)
Steve was up front near the beginning of the race, but DNF'd..last race he cracked his steer tube..hopefully nothing like that this race..??
Tony Z! He seemed to be having a rough day..
Thanks for the race, Norm!! =)
