For a couple years I'd wanted to customize an AG into a character from a movie, book or show. Since Labyrinth is one of my favorite movies, Sarah seemed to be the perfect choice! Because my mom and I didn't want to wait a long time to eyeswap three of our dolls, my mom told me that she'd buy me #25 and that after I customized her, she'd be hidden away until Christmas. So, one day in Feb. 2009, Sarah arrived :)
#25 was a great choice because her hair is the perfect length and cut. She's also really pretty and what I imagined Sarah as an AG would look like. She just needed freckles, pierced ears, an eye swap, and outfits from the movie (as well as other outfits and accessories to fit her).
In March, I added freckles to Sarah's face and pierced her ears. I was going to make her eyebrows darker but I decided not to (I don't want to mess it up, lol). Her freckles were tricky because most of them are light. She also has one above her lip that is darker (it took about 5 or 6 tries to get it) I had to look at a ton of photos of Jenniefer Connelly, who plays Sarah in the movie, to get an idea of how many freckles to do and where to place them. I gave Sarah a few more freckles, along her cheeks as I figure they could've faded more as she got older.
Sarah is modeling a Bean Bunny original that I got for Christmas 2008. I thought it would look good on her and it looks like it could work for the 1980s.
Three piercings and frecklings I did together: Shirley, my custom #21 (before eye swap); Sarah (before eye swap); and Madeleine (a custom #3 who was for a friend of mine).
In April '09, my mom's #23, Susan (Molly's friend), Shirley and Sarah were sent to Mstangledwebs for a three-way eye swap. They're all wicked pretty!
Sarah with her new eyes. Now I'm working on her collection and my own prequel fanfiction to the movie. Sarah Adelaide Williams (doll-Sarah) is 12 years old-three years before the movie takes place. Sarah's mother was an actress in many plays. Her favorite play was Guys and Dolls; she named Sarah after the characters Sarah and Adelaide. Unfortunately her mother died in an accident and Sarah now lives with her father. Sarah loves all things fantasy and loves musicals and plays. She can always be found pretending to be someone else and often runs off to do so, alone or with her dog, Merlin.
Dec. 26th, 2009-Sarah is now officially mine :) I still don't have her meet outfit done, but that's next on my list, as well as continuing to build her collection and write her prequel. Here are Sarah's Glenda and Dorothy dolls. The Wizard of Oz is one of her favorite books and movies.
I got this fairy from PrincessEmily Christmas 2008 and thought that it was perfect for Sarah. Since she loves all things fantasy, she loves fairies and believes in them and that they do "nice things, like grant wishes."
Sarah's favorite book is entitled, Labyrinth. It's about this girl-named Sarah-what a coincidence- who has to save her baby step-brother from an evil Goblin King and meets some interesting characters along the way. Doll-Sarah knows that when she's 15 she actually go through the Labyrinth and the book is about her (this is my -and my Sarahs'- take on it). Anyway. here is Sarah's Hoggle toy. He's one of the first characters she befriends, in the Labyrinth. In Sarah's room, in the movie, she has Labyrinth toys.
Perhaps one of Sarah's favorite toys ever (right after her beloved bear, Lancelot), this is Jareth, the Goblin King. Jareth is the antagonist in Labyrinth but besides taking Toby from Sarah, when she's 15, she thinks he's pretty awesome. In the movie, Jareth is played by the awesome David Bowie. Jennifer Connelly plays Sarah :)
Here are Jareth and Hoggle together. Sarah and I love detail done on these toys-they look so much like their movie counterparts! I got them from my dad for Christmas.
I borrowed the blouse from my mom's dolls since Sarah still needs her own, as well as her vest, loafers & a different color barrette. It's the outfit Sarah wears throughout most of the movie. To me, it's Sarah's favorite outfit; one that's described in the Labyrinth book she loves. Since she would've grown between 12 and 15, she gets similar clothes in a bigger size as she grows. (More pictures to come as her collection grows).
