"I have to say that I agree 100% with everything Tatyana says about all your photos- and she says it so well too!!"

"Outstanding!"

"Yes, the emergence of complex behavior from simple rules is fascinating. As you are probably aware, Steven Wolfram wrote a whole book about this with respect to cellular automata (A New Kind of Science), but there is also a danger here in that we may mistake the model for the reality. Cranes do what they do for 'crane reasons', not for human reasons, and just because I can write a computer model that 'seems' to mimic their behavior does not necessary mean that I have grasped their neurological behaviors in its essence.
And yes, this location on the North Platte River in Nebraska is a 'funnel' and 'rest stop' for the midwestern crane migration route. About 600,000 Lesser Sandhill Cranes stop here while they wait for the ice-out in the arctic so they can get to their summer breeding grounds in northern Alaska and Siberia. They fatten up for the trip in the corn fields while they wait. It is one of the last great wildlife migrations left in North America.
Peace and every blessing,
Kenton"
