Almost launch time! Got an early viewing point in between the many cameras lined up along the lake edge!
Press site is really jumping now!! There were nearly 3,000 media folks there by launch time!!
Watched ignition, then raised my camera to get this one shot. Afterward put it down, because I wanted to feel the heat and feel the rumble of the Shuttle liftoff! So beautiful and amazing... words truly failed most of us. Lots of cheering, clapping, and crying.
Kept my camera pointed up and clicked a few times, even though I wasn't even looking at the LCD. Most of those pictures were awful, but got lucky with this one!!
Side trip the next day to one of the few museums on the KSC complex I had not yet seen...
