We took a weekend trip to Durango, Colorado with Matt and Alicia. This was the first time we had mountain biked in the area.
We started with the Hermosa Creek Trail on Saturday. We ran a car shuttle from the Purgatory ski area to the town of Hermosa.

The next day we did another car shuttle. This time, we rode from the top of Molas Pass past Engineer Mountain and down to US-550 a few miles south of the top of Coalbank Pass.
From the top of Molas Pass, the trail climbs above treeline to grassy, open meadows.

Engineer Mountain looming in the distance
We would later cross the large, flat bench just left of the summit.

This was such an amazing place to go for a ride.

The wildflowers were endless.
getting closer to the top of the descent
From this point, we descended over 2,000-ft of smooth, fast singletrack all the way down to US-550. Matt and I had fun chasing eachother in and out of aspen groves and through the open meadows.
Away we go!!!

As much as I didn't want to interupt the amazing descent, I had to stop to admire the display of vivid colors these guys were showing off. Once back to the highway, Matt and I hitched a ride with a policewoman to the top of Coalbank Pass. It was the first time either of us had ridden in the back seat of a cop car.
