After climbing at Tres Piedras the previous day with Brandon and Nicole, Sarah and I drove across Hwy 64 and camped at Taos Ski Valley. From there, we did a quick tour on Gold Hill. We made a nice loop by ascending the Long Canyon Trail and descending the Gold Hill Trail. After sleeping straight through our alarm, we didn't get started until 7:45 A.M. Oops!
After several miles in the shade of Long Canyon, Sarah and Nina finally emerge into the sun on the ridge to Gold Hill. If doing this trail again, it would be better to ascend the rough, rocky Gold Hill Trail and descend the smooth, flat Long Canyon Trail.

Nina made a last second appearance in our self-timer summit shot. The summit was extremely windy and cold, so we spent most of our time there crouching behind a pile of rocks trying to force down some energy bars.

We were amazed to catch this distant glimpse of the Little Bear - Blanca Traverse. Mount Lindsey also made an appearance. What a treat!

We were back at the TH by 10:45 A.M., making for a very short yet enjoyable morning excursion. Here, Andy holds Al's Run in his hands.
Parked at the TH, we saw the coolest vehicle ever made. This thing has the off road capability of a Hummer, yet it sleeps 4 and has a well equipped kitchen. And I thought our futon mattress in the back of the Tacoma was a posh setup.
