We took a bunch of our friends climbing up at Las Conchas. It was the first or second time for most of them. Before starting the day's activities, I gave a brief "Climbing 101" lecture to Antranik, Phil, and Brad. For once, Phil actually paid attention to me because he was getting ready for his first time ever on the sharp end of the rope.

Abby is a natural! She sent this route with no hesitation.

We were all shocked to see that even Nicki gave it a try. Still, though, he managed to get shown up by "the wife." Unfortunately, we don't have any photos of her on the wall. Jennifer was nice enough to take photos of Nicki while he was climbing, but he didn't have the common decency to return the favor. Some hubby!
Nicki pushes on even though his ears are brutally cold.
"Great success. Vurry Nize!"

"See, Nicki. It's not that scary, and I'm only five years old."
Chris makes his way toward the top while Abby sneaks an Oreo to Nina. Caught you!
Camille bypasses the warm-up climb and jumps straight on the hard one.
Sam giving his mom some beta
Flexibility is the name of the game.
At this instant, Sam realised there was no way that his mom could stop him from digging into the bag of Oreos one more time.
Camille really dug deep to get to the anchor. Even Brad couldn't match her gumption!
An exhausted Camille takes a breather while Andy helps her untie her knot. Nice job, Camille!
