St. Mary's glacier lot
MicroSpikes were all we needed this trip due to the wind packed snow. Minimal post holing.
Jeremy and Jimmy early on the trail.
Approaching St. Mary's lake and glacier
Parts of the trail were blown clean of snow.
The route is the snowy hill on the left
Ascending next to the lake
View of St. Mary's lake early morning. Cloudy and windy
Coming up over the ridge. The snow was very uneven and packed.
First views of James Peak
Between the glacier and the base of the mountain was a wind blown broad, mostly flat area
Taking a break, looking at the rest of the hike.
Grays and Torreys peaks
Jimmy with Kingston Peak over his shoulder
Jeremy and Jimmy snapping some photos
Beginning the ascent to the peak (false summit straight ahead!)
Packed snow is much nicer to hike on than rocks. Make your own path.
Jimmy and the angle of the mountain. Steep, but not too bad...
With a tilt of the camera, it looks much steeper
Pushing onward and upward
Looking back at our hike. Our pass is on the left.
False summit bid.
Some other mountains getting sun (we never really had any)
Jeremy and Jimmy at the top. 13,250'.
1st winter 13er.
View from the top
Jeremy getting some shots
St. Mary's Lake later in the afternoon.
Resting the legs
360* view from the summit
