With only about half the crowd seated, there was a huge turnout to honor and celebrate Chief Justice Carey's work in the court system.
BBA Immediate Past President J.D. Smeallie read from Chief Justice Carey's award plaque, which lauded her "passion for innovation, ability to foster collaboration, and her skill in executing sound management principles amid scarce resources."
Chief Justice Carey's remarks expressed her hopes for implementing new strategies in the court to better assist both the court staff and the litigants who come through its doors.
Chief Justice Carey also acknowledged the role that the Bar played in helping to achieve adequate funding for the courts, and she thanked the judges for their willingness to assist her.
