The Italian Comedy of Masks
Wilkinson College of Humanities and Social Sciences and the Italian Studies Program presented, The Italian Comedy of Masks on Thursday, November 21, 7:30 – 9 p.m. in the Fish Interfaith Center, Wallace All Faiths Chapel.
Mace Perlman, a classically trained mime and actor, will introduce audiences to the centuries-old, yet always contemporary, theatrical tradition of commedia dell’arte, whose mask-characters have captured the imagination of playwrights, composers, painters, and pop culture from Shakespeare to Bugs Bunny and from Mozart to the Marx Brothers. Come watch him transform as he dons the masks of Renzo Antonello of Vicenza, Italy, hailed by D.J.R. Bruckner in The New York Times as “splendid little works of art.”
